DAGSA SA MGA BADLUNGON’G BUNGOTON PAKIGBATOKAN, ARON KATUNHAY SA MINDANAO MAULIAN

DAGSA SA MGA BADLUNGON’G BUNGOTON PAKIGBATOKAN,  ARON KATUNHAY SA MINDANAO MAULIAN

Doubtlessly, what is happening in Marawi city today is not to be treated as part of  daily combat operation like treating it as part of a  routine military operation of  government forces in a war zone. The entry of foreigners into the war theater is highly indicative of a problem that is not commonplace in our system of governance. It is on the firmness of expressing our determination to ward off external threat posed by ISIS-inspired Maute and Abu Sayyaf bandits that spells the difference whether we can stand the test of time.

The declaration of Martial Law in Mindanao is a direct response to quell the violence and rebellious acts of Maute and Abu Sayyaf. It is meant to give teeth to government's might to enforce warrantless search and arrest to address the complex nature of the problem.

The discovery of kilos of shabu in the Maute lair, the millions of money recovered from an abandoned house, the arrest of a former mayor who was tied to the maute group, and the highly radicalized espousal of installing a caliphate in Marawi City which was uncovered by police operatives, all these point to the urgency which strengthens the need for Martial Law to continue.

Our country stands to lose a territory if we show weakness in dealing with the onslaught of rebellious aggressors. We stand to lose everything if we cannot carry the burden of weeding our country from threats and attacks that undermine our stability. Let's remember, our earnings from hosting tourist travels cannot dwarf the need to focus on much important discipline that tests our country today, that is to be free from internal and foreign threat of terrorism.

WALA PA BA MATAY-I SI PACMAN???

WALA PA BA MATAY-I  SI PACMAN???

At 38, will Manny “PACMAN” Pacquiao  bring home the bacon after his July 2, 2017 match?

No doubt, PACMAN  has the wisdom of a veteran fighter. He is the living legend of boxing. And he has everything to lose.

His opponent  for the Welterweight Championship belt is Jeff Horn. At  29,   he  threads on an unbeaten record of 17 wins.  Clearly, he has nothing but  fire to burn up the PACMAN myth.

Everytime PACMAN enters the boxing ring, it's gotta  be a lazy day for all of us.

Let's get the two ready to rumble. May the best man win. Go PACMAN. GO!!!!

NAHISAMA NI PONSYO PILATO ANG MGA OPISYAL SA BPI, NANGHINAW SILANG TANAN SA ILANG KASAYPANAN???

NAHISAMA NI PONSYO PILATO ANG MGA OPISYAL SA BPI, NANGHINAW SILANG TANAN  SA ILANG KASAYPANAN???

Now it can be told, human error caused the glitch that put the reputation of the banking industry in microscopic eye just recently.

In a gesture which can be considered as calculated risk on their  part, the officials of the  Bank of Philippine Islands (BPI)  admitted in a Senate hearing investigating into the fiasco that it was allegedly “error of judgment” of a programmer or  specialist.

Worse, the computer specialist who allegedly owned up the fault of causing it was merely transferred to another area of assignment. Is this not a strategy on  BPI’s part to discourage the specialist from squealing the truth behind the glitch?

At the outset, we can only ask the following questions. What does this mean? No administrative penalty was imposed against the erring employee, is it? What about the employee's superior officer who exercises supervision and control over her work? What about the top guns of BPI  who readily washed their hands when the news broke out about the glitch like Pontius Pilates  of modern times? Are they all off the hook?

I'm pretty sure most of the depositors   suffered from sleepless nights, extreme anxiety  and moral shock when they were advised not to touch their accounts due to the glitch. They helplessly faced a blank wall and pleaded BPI to let them transact with the bank especially those having urgent financial needs at that time.

We are talking here of 1.5 million accounts involving 8 million depositors of BPI  affected by the glitch. Is this not enough a reason to cause depositors to be alarmed? Without any administrative sanctions imposed on the specialist and officials of BPI,  are we just going to   forgive and forget?

We have high expectations on  BPI officials owning up the responsibility instead of passing the buck to a lowly specialist.

PANGITA

PANGITA

Pangita, buhat kini  nga dili lalim,
Muhatod kini  sa lugar nga magkalainlain,

 May mangita’g pangasaw-onon nga guwapahon,

Dili matay-og, hadlaon mo man, dili gayud motakilid..

MGA PILIPINHON ANG MAS LABING NASAYOD SA PANGHITABO SA PINAS, DILI ANG PAMANTALAANG "NEW YORK TIMES"

MGA  PILIPINHON ANG MAS LABING NASAYOD SA PANGHITABO SA PINAS, DILI ANG PAMANTALAANG "NEW YORK TIMES"

Beyond the shadow of doubt, Digong is a man of honor and courage. He gives his opponents time to realize the day of reckoning if they persist on their self serving cause.

Maute and Abu Sayyaf groups were given the golden opportunity to lay down their arms and embrace peace with the government. Sadly, they let the barrel of their guns speak.

When shootings have reached fever pitch, mainstream media, the New York Times, suddenly appeared with a twisted tale saying, "Digong's braggadocio did it."

When things go wrong, we resort to getting into the bottom of things to know why it happened. The situation portrayed by the New York Times is totally far out. It did not get into the truth behind the smokescreen. It simply impressed its unbridled bias on matters affecting the affairs of Filipinos who have their own identity and aspirations to protect.

Better luck next time.

DILI PAGPANAWAY ANG BUHATON SA SIMBAHAN, KON DILI ANG PAG-ALALAY SA MGA TABANGONON…

DILI  PAGPANAWAY ANG BUHATON SA SIMBAHAN, KON DILI ANG PAG-ALALAY SA MGA TABANGONON…

Cardinal Quevedo is showing his limited grasp on Maute's motive in wreaking havoc in Mindanao particularly in Marawi. He faulted the government for not addressing the social injustice felt by Maute  which prompted them to take up arms against the government.

His observation fails because it is  standing on the wrong premise.  Fighting social injustice through violent means such as resorting to terroristic or rebellious acts can never be justified.

The ends do not justify the means, so to speak. The government has been in the thick of things actively promoting federalism and pursuing the BBL just to equalize the imbalance of fiscal administration by dispersing the highly centralized power in Manila to reach the far-flung areas in southern Sulu and the northern Appari.

Cardinal Quevedo must consider that the intensity of the war in Mindanao is not about paying lip service to the needy like the displaced residents of Marawi. He must do better than that. He can give life to what Jesus preached urging his disciples to help the needy  and cloth the naked.

In his humble way, he can urge the church hierarchy to donate goods.  Be at the forefront of clothing the residents by  giving them food, and praying for the souls of the dead and early recovery of Marawi and other affected areas from the crisis. He can grab the limelight by spearheading the creation of joint church and government task force to find ways in diffusing the brewing tension instead of mincing words of hypocrisy. Otherwise, he will be misconstrued as politicking and criticizing the government for the sake of critizing it without specific suggestions to resolve the crisis.

Think, think, think…

PASIDUNGOG ALANG SA MGA AMAHAN

PASIDUNGOG ALANG SA MGA AMAHAN

Responsibility, composure, dependability and direction best described the character of the man whom we accord full distinction and highest  honors  as we celebrate today,   Happy Fathers Day!!

KAGULIYANG SA MINDANAO DILI MAHIMONG BABAG SA MGA TURISTA

KAGULIYANG SA MINDANAO DILI MAHIMONG BABAG  SA MGA  TURISTA

Tourism industry plays important role in putting our country in the world map. Here, we can say that we gain grounds in convincing tourists through the index of tourist volume coming in and hastily offer it  as indubitable proof of  confidence of people from the world over.

To say that the path which our country is threading right now is uncertain is not far from the truth. However, I still believe  that good things can happen amidst the war in Marawi City and other unfortunate events like the incident in Resorts World Manila  that happened recently.

People's vigilance and alertness must be raised to high levels at all times. Maintaining open communications to the authorities should be the rule of the day to keep lawlessness at bay. Let's remember, a tranquil state of environment unhampered by threat of violence is always considered by tourists as yardstick to make a tourist destination their second home.

UNSA MAN GAYUD ANG UYOK NING BALAOD MILITAR NGA GIPAHAMTANG SA DAKBAYAN SA MARAWI???

UNSA MAN GAYUD ANG UYOK NING BALAOD MILITAR NGA GIPAHAMTANG SA MINDANAO???

Defining Martial Law based on its literal import as provided in the constitution will be very easy to explain. However, deepening our understanding into the actual application of its meaning in the light what’s happening in  war-torn Marawi City and the  ramification it brings to the people in Mindanao  makes the job of learned Justices of the Supreme Court tedious and at best, an intelligence test.

We are aware that Supreme Court Justices  work as a collegial body. There is no one among them who can claim the monopoly of knowledge to unravel the complex issue laid before it  by the oppositors of the declaration of Martial Law.

Currently,  Martial Law is used by government as its ultimate weapon against Maute and Abu Sayyaf  to protect the citizenry from the outbreak of lawlessness and violence. To date, no report of any media entity, political leaders or civilian being subjected to abuses by the implementers of Martial Law.

Bottom line, Martial Law is declared in order not to abuse or coerce civilians or political foes. It is not conceptualized to vest  the declarant with  absolute power. Most importantly, Martial Law is enshrined in the constitution and unarguably a legal remedy which the Chief Executive can invoke in the exercise of his executive prerogative and  function. It is not illegal. It becomes one when people of vested interest capitalize  on the issue of Martial Law and undermine its laudable meaning by twisting it to create confusion in the mind of the people.

KAMPEYON NA USAB ANG GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS SA LINABAYAY’G BOLA

KAMPEYON NA  ANG GOLDEN STATE WARRIORS SA LINABAYAY’G BOLA

That's it. The Golden State Warriors has  fulfilled its date with destiny. Capturing its 2nd title in 3 successive championship games is simply astonishing and overwhelming.

The spectacular exchange of firepower between the two NBA  superstars-filled  teams has electrified the diehard fans  from start  to finish.

Like what  the  NBA legends say, "going to    NBA championship is a dream, but capturing the championship trophy is not everything."

Golden State Warriors, you didn't only play the game. You dictated the tempo of what basketball game is all about. Congrats!!

KASIKAS SA QATAR, MAKAPABALISA SA MGA MAMUMUO

KASIKAS SA QATAR, MAKAPABALISA SA MGA  MAMUMUO

Rex Tillerson, US Secretary of State,  is favoring de-escallation of the Qatar row while US President  Donald Trump espouses harsh action by siding with Saudi Arabia. For now, food embargo is deemed as the most effective way of pressuring Qatar from aiding ISIS.     As Donald Trump’s alter-ego, it is important for Rex Tillerson to  make his presence felt  in the diplomatic circles   by showing  he has balls to  convince  Trump to revisit his hard stance on isolating Qatar.

Our government should not take the unfolding events in Qatar sitting  down. By now, it is presumed that the much needed evacuation plans are put in place to avoid costly repercussions to our workers who may be caught in crossfire when things go   from bad to worse.

Trump and Tillerson should get their acts together to foist yet another worldwide attempt at spearheading a war against ISIS  and other organizations that breed on terrorism.

Really, they  look more like acting a good cop and a  bad cop with their  contrasting views. On a scale of 1 to 10, I hardly rate them with  a mark of 5 if nothing stupendous is done to resolve the breaking point that's developing in the Mideast over  Qatar's  reported links with terrorist groups.
