Kaban ni D_BystandeR: WALA MAKAUYON SA HUKOM?

RTC Executuve Judge Pelagio Paguican of Panabo City did not hide his displeasure over the guilty verdict handed down to Corona by a "landslide majority" of the senator-judges of the Impeachment Court. He was aware of how an RTC court enterpreter, Delsa Flores lost her job in May 1997 for her failure to disclose her market stall in her Statement of Assets and Liabilities and Net Worth (SALN). And yet his shameful "boldness" to show his blind support to the impeached Chief Justice is something that raises the eyebrows of ordinary citizens to connect it to what kind of "wisdom" does the Judge hold to be competent enough to discharge his function and duty as an impartial judge. 

Does he subscribe to the false belief that there is another kind of justice for "the high and the mighty?" In the news, throngs of judges and Supreme Court employees have swarmed and shown their personal support to their "bossing" during the "historic" appearance of Corona in the Impeachment Court. And now as a result, I doubt if that does not provoke the ordinary man on the street to develop a suspicious mind into what kind of justice these guys will render inasmuch  as their shown canine devotion and personal attachment to their "boss" is very much glaring and that consequently doubts are abound to question their fitness to discharge their duties and responsibilities to the public. And to think, as in the case of Judge Paguican, that he seems very much affected with Corona's downfall, this particular case will certainly provoke a "wake up call" to DOJ Secretary De Lima to conduct a meticulous random checkup to determine the "fitness" of some judges in its aftermath, especially those that showed highly partisan support to Corona. 

The proverbial saying that "an ounce of prevention is worth a pound of cure" is a more important guide for the DOJ Head to ponder over.
