Kaban ni D_BystandeR: PANAHOM MAHITUNGOD SA PAG NGALAN SA FLY OVER

I don't see any relevance to the proposal of former congressman Tony Cuenco to name the flyover in Mambaling after Cerge Remonde in his honor. Although Cerge Remonde is a well-known radio personality in Cebu, his being taken by GMA to become her Press Secretary in Malacanang does not change the fact that he allowed his name to be used  by GMA to become part of a corrupt regime saddled with all kinds of "distortions" and Cerge was only taken in as a "deodorizer" to make her administration "look and smell good" to the public. I could still remember Tony Cuenco going hand in hand with the late Inday Nita Cortez Daluz and Talyux Bacalso in the height of their campaign against the Martial Law regime of Dictator Marcos. But you can never tell the kind of statesmanship inside him (Tony) because when it was all known to the people that GMA was following a different interpretation of how to run the government, he was there all along clinging to her "skirt" and blindly "singing alleluia" to whatever acts she has done, inimical to her presidency and called them all: "gospel truth." 

Earlier, I wrote an opinion in one of the comments I made to this paper that I would prefer Tony to "hang up his gloves" instead of making any political plans in the future because, aside from the fact that he's getting "more mature in age," that would better preserve his place in a higher level of respect and a special recognition in the public minds of the Cebuanos rather than exposing himself to all kinds of "dirty mudslinging" that is necessarily common in political campaigns. I don't think Tony will be able to recover the high public regards that history would have given him as his reward in that "battle" to regain our independence from the ugly tentacles of that Marcos regime now that he has decided to run again for public office.
