The editorial about Tommy O's private trip on a personally chartered plane to Masbate last Sunday, August 19, 2012 is understandably projected not to place any credit for his trip but to look for "any small opening" where his reputation can be "blurred" by whatever innuendos the editor insidiously wants to portray. It's unfortunate the good name of this newspaper is now used to personally "downgrade" the image of a public official whose personality does not fall within the graces of those whom the editor is found to have "lavishly" supported in whatever move. Ideally, an editor is expected to observe the balance of "fair" reporting to preserve his independence and the portrayal of his role with "strict" neutrality.
But we are now in the "dog-eat-dog" era and it is only the vigilance of a reader to immediately discern to what kind of road the editor chooses to undertake "whether he uses the high road to greatness or the squalid one going down to the gutter."
