Kaban ni D_BystandeR: KOMBATE: BATAN-ON BATOK TIGULANG

Gody Roperos' (of Sunstar) analytical mind is again at work dissecting the delicate impasse created by the incessant "bullying" suffered by the neophyte Sen. Trillanes in the hands of a veteran politician Senate President JPE whose "might and shrewdness" dates back to the "darkest chapter" of our country's history when Martial Law was declared by Ferdinand E. Marcos on September 21, 1972. Manong Johnny has already figured in countless political bouts and legal skirmishes but he always came out unscathed. Maybe he "belonged" to a group of selected few endowed with exceptional winning streak that at age of 88 when some people already begin to feel the pangs of old age, there he is standing at the hallowed halls of congress bellowing to a neophyte senator to face him in what could be considered an exchange of the "sharpness" of one's reasoning power in a spirited debate. JPE called Trillanes a "traitor" in the face of what the latter has done in the "backdoor channeling" with his Chinese counterparts in diffusing the tension created by the conflict in Scarborough Shoal. But Trillanes is not the kind of "easy guy" to fall into the "trap" of JPE as the former is aware that discussing in public the salient points of his "mission" is against the interest of national security.  But the early cause of the "conflict" was about JPE's move to railroad the passage of a bill creating the province of Camarines Sur into two districts. And Trillanes got earlier information that GMA has placed a telephone call with JPE asking for the passage of the bill to pave the way for the political survival of her sibling. And this ignited the "hot spot" that for Trillanes the time has come for him to stop the "bullying" which subjected him for so long a time. He recalled JPE telling him about his stand that nobody can pressure him into doing something. But now he realized in the face of what he knew that JPE could be a GMA lackey for toeing the line. As a result he bolted out of the majority party to show his disgust.  But smart as he is, JPE chose the topic for the debate about the Scarborough Shoal where he finds some "weakness" on the part of the younger senator. But to repeat, Trillanes "was not born yesterday" and he knows the delicate topic his clever adversary chose so in order to avoid it for reason of national interest Trillanes decided to make a "walk out" amid the calls of the "old man" calling him a "traitor." 

However, the winner of that debate cannot be judged as to who called the last shot but the people closely following every step of the controversy know that Trillanes has successfully "toned down" the explosive situation in the "Scarborough Shoal" and not only that, he has successfully shown his "boldness and guts" to say no to "bullying" done to him by those wielding enormous power.
