With the new revelation disclosed by Sen. Enrile that a foreign country particularly a US-based anti-smoking program headed by Mayor Bloomberg of New York City, is lobbying to influence the domestic policy of our country. is understandably the reason why we witness a "deluge" of so many groups and government entities ganging-up on Sen. Recto for coming out with only P15B for "sin tax bill" proponents. In any case, tax per se is an embodiment of additional hardships that the people will have to shoulder whether they like it or not. In the olden times, it is the compelling reason why the people rose up in arms against their governments because of the imposition of "burdensome" taxes. But now we are a witness to a different crowd who, instead of "slamming" the door against high taxes they are the very ones who are "moving heaven and earth" to ask that the proposed P60B be approved by that government entity entrusted with the sublime duty and wisdom to weigh in the balance whether the proposed tax measure would turn detrimental to the people's welfare in the long run. And the reason here is, as discovered by Manong Johnny, that there is $4.9M poured into this country by a US-based anti-smoking advocacy group out to influence the domestic policy of our country. And this is a very dangerous precedent because it will turn out that we will be fighting against each other because of that one "mitigating factor" of a foreign intervention out to sow chaos in our country.

 If we are not careful, we will one day wake up to our consternation that we are only duped to believe it as a good chance for us to uplift ourselves from the pitfall of poverty to a higher level of abundance and prosperity but in reality will only bring us down to the road to perdition.
