It is mind boggling that while Jesus Christ was still roaming this planet more than 2000 years ago He was a picture of a man with simplicity and we did not notice Him wearing jewelries and he lived in a simple house. As a matter of fact, His early beginning dates back to the place where His mother Blessed Virgin Mary was by force of circumstances able to give birth to the Holy Child Jesus on a manger in Bethlehem. And there could be no other reason why God in all His might has allowed this thing to happen to His only begotten Son except the fact that the road to the kingdom of God is not adorned by worldly treasure but what is important is the purity in man's body and soul devoid of any pretensions. What Leo Lastimosa has shown to his readers about the shocking display of worldly ornaments present in a place owned by priests in Danao City can be interpreted as opposite to the teachings of Christ. But the worldly appearance could not be entirely blamed on them because they will literally reason out that in order for them to be able to work and think to become effective in their role as servants of God, they should be given all the convenience and amenities or their services will suffer because they cannot concentrate on their work without them.
