Kaban ni D_BystandeR; NGANONG DUGAY MAN???

I tried to analyze the recent controversy involving the long time debt of the city government which has elicited no less a ruling from the Supreme Court that ordered the city to pay the Rallos heirs for a piece of land in Sambag I which the city converted to become a road. The transaction if I remember right, spanned for a period of more than half a century and this is quite long enough. The SC ruling in year 2000 is more than a decade ago. I wonder what kind of people do we have in the person of Mike Rama and Edgardo Labella who are both Team Rama candidates for mayor and vice mayor of Cebu City. We have known people who refused to pay a valid and legitimate debt and in the idiomatic parlance of old we call them, "Mal Pagador" or "Baga'g Nawong!" 

I remember an anecdote about a story of a father and son who, by profession, are all lawyers. One day, as the father was indisposed, he asked his son to represent him in court  for a case which dragged on for so many years. Before going to court, the lawyer son reviewed the case and found out to his surprise that it was only a very simple case and wondered why it dragged on for so many years. There and then, in the succeeding court proceedings the son positively surrendered and affirmed to the honorable judge that he wanted the case terminated in favor of their opponent. Coming home and happy in the thought that he was able to close the case  that took his father too long he was whistling his way to his father's bedside. But his father almost fainted in utter  exasperation and disgust upon knowing it. And his father cried at the top of his voice: "How damned you!? Didn't you  know I consider this case my number one source of livelihood!? Your three brothers and three sisters are now all  professionals because I used this case to finance their studies! And you would not have been a lawyer like me if not for this case!!!" Caught in the middle of a deepening question of how to maintain his professional decency, the son can  only do nothing but to give his father a glass of water to calm him down.

Magtatampo usab siya isip magsusulat sa nasudnong magasin,  "Philippines Free Press" ug sa mga nag-unang peryodiko dinhi sa dakbayan sa Sugbo sa lunhaw pa ang iyang pangedaron. Nahimo siyang mamumuo sa usa ka pribadong kompaniya sa dakbayan sa Sugbo, ESCANO LINES, sulod sa napulo ug duha (12) ka tuig  dayon niyang tapon  ngadto sa NAPOCOR  ug nahimong kawani sa kagamhanan  sulod sa bayente dos (22) ka tuig.
