Kaban ni D_BystandeR: PAUGATAY ANG PULITIKA???

In a tense political situation where all eyes are watching the Comelec officials for any partisan sign that could be interpreted as unduly favoring one's political opponent, even a simple "pinching" of your nose could perhaps invite their suspicion it could be unfairly helping the other side. This happens to the two election officers, Atty. Marchel Sarno and Atty. Lionel Marco Castellano: The former, while dining in a Chinese restaurant with his basketball buddy, Atty. Filmor Gomuz which was, by chance, joined in another table by Wakee Salud, and the picture of that "chance encounter" appeared in the news two weeks after when Salud had already filed his COC in Cordova as a mayoral bet; and the latter, while flashing the "One Cebu Party" sign during the filing of COC by PJ Garcia but it was declared not intended to the candidate but to his son accompanying his father in a "teasing gesture." In this era of "dog eat dog" everything is suspicious to everybody and could be easily connected to one's partisan leaning especially if the observer belongs to an opposite political camp.  But lawyers can be expected to easily parry accusations like this because of the lawyers' "built-in" defense mechanism or they can cite lot of reasons to evade complicity unless they are caught "red-handed" with a critically damning evidence of partiality.  But isn't it the essence of determining the winner of an election is to find out how much votes are counted in favor of the winning candidate as against the opponent declared as loser? There are so many electoral restrictions in the books that one can possibly win an election "without a single drop of sweat" by actually finding out what poll violation is committed by his opponent even before votes are actually counted to declare him guilty as such and therefore becomes a loser due to "technicalities."  

Take the case of Cordova where the incumbent Mayor Ady Sitoy is frantically exerting all efforts to exclude his opponent Wakee Salud from the list of official candidates claiming that his opponent did not have a valid residence in his town. If he gets a favorable decision from this case it will be a good example of a "hands down" victory for him to get to another term as Cordova mayor.
