Kaban ni D_BystandeR: TUKMANG SERBISYO SA KATAWHAN PANALIPDAN
There
is a parallel discussion made by noted columnist, Leo Lastimosa of The FREEMAN,
about this topic and he praised the initiative of City Councilor Dave Tumulak
who went around in the countrysides and gathered an alarming news of an adverse
development where quite a number of livestock died due to extreme cold temperatures
obtaining in the mountainsides which also damaged farm crops. Apan subo nga
palandungon nga tungod kay dili man siya maoy nakauna sa pagkaplag sa maong
panghitabo, Mayor Mike Rama is now downplaying the declaration of calamity to some
mountain barangays of the city, about 17 of them, as being affected by the
extremely cold temps.
I
cannot understand the mindset of Mayor Mike, he is quick to dismiss the
initiatives of other people as "irresponsible" because the idea did
not originate from him but it only cropped up because of the concern shown by
the City Council. When can we have our city leadership to think responsibly for
the welfare of its people rather than to promote his own political agenda at
the expense of the public welfare?
