Kaban ni D_BystandeR: DILI MATANDI ANG PILIPINAS UG KOREA PANAHON SA KATALAGMAN
The glaringly lopsided
comparison between the two governments handling of sea disasters - with South
Korea compared to the Philippines - that took place in the sea parted from each
other by thousands of miles away, is sickening if not ridiculous, especially
that it involves the loss of lives. The punitive action taken by the government
of South Korea to drastically run after those having a hand, either directly or
indirectly, with the disaster is remarkable. But the Philippines' handling of
our very own case, most specifically the one that happened right in the vicinity
of Talisay City shorelines, is appalling. The collision of two vessels that
claimed the lives of more than a hundred innocent victims and the sinking of
one of the vessels involved, left in its wake a sad spectacle of government
failure to give the victims' relatives the kind of justice that they longed and
rightfully deserved despite the long period of time that elapsed.
