TUKBILON TA ANG UYOK SA PASKO
In
his first ever Christmas message delivered before a mammoth crowd, Pope Francis
urged the believers to love and forget casting aside hatred, ignominy and
harboring of ill-will.
Christmas
is not meant to be empty and ephemeral. It is the best opportunity to relive
the greatest biblical story ever told -
the birth of our lord Jesus Christ.
Down
the road, people go to church and say prayers hoping for the best and realization of their dreams. Pope Francis must
have seen how ironical things have become nowadays when leaders of the world
appear to have never run out of demagoguery on issues affecting global peace. We have seen
leaders in our country who build their arrogance openly without showing any
sign of amelioration for the coming year, 2014.
Christmas
augurs well in the heart of those who believe in doing the words that spell
goodness in the heart rather than self-aggrandizement and enrichment. Now is
the time for all of us to disabuse the mind of the doomsayers who claim that
the end is near. We have reached and surpassed the turbulent times. We know
that everything has far-reaching implications if we remain passive in allowing
Pope Francis to pursue his voice in the wilderness. At hand is our chance to
blow the wind of change. It's Christmas time.
