Kaban ni D_BystandeR: NAGPAUGATAY ANG EHEKUTIBO UG HUDIKATORA BAHIN SA HINIKYARAY SA KITA???
President of JUDEA, Jojo
Guerero, an association of judiciary employees, clearly defensive of the SC justices
regarding the SALN issue, asked why P-Noy
is targeting the justices when there is a rule that governs the release of
their SALN. With numerous controversial issues affecting the integrity and
honesty of some members of the judiciary, especially the SC's alleged involvement with a
certain "Ma'am Arlene," who is said to have "thrown her weight
around and fixed the cases" of her moneyed clients with high profile cases
pending in the SC, P-Noy's dogged insistence to take to task the SC of this
SALN issue is being welcomed by the concerned public. This, being the focus of P-Noy,
could probably unearth some controversial issues which nobody can question them
before because they were believed to be "above the law."
Footnote: This comment came out in connection with a PDI
headline, "SC: our SALNs no secret." The verbal tussle between P-Noy
and the SC has resulted to BIR commissioner Kim Henares asking the SC justices to furnish her office with
their financial statements from 2003 to
2012. Henares said the request was part of her commission's investigation into the activities of someone
in the judiciary known only as "Ma'am Arlene" who reportedly fixed
wealthy clients cases. Henares said by
denying her request, the SC justices were "creating an exception for
themselves." Henares first filed her request on Dec. 9/13 but due to
failure to comply with some SC requirements, she filed again another application
on Feb. 10/14 but was denied on June 17/14. Her appeal filed with the SC is
expected to be acted soon. Recently, Sen. Koko Pimentel is reported to be
backing P-Noy on this SALN issue and on
Saturday, 08/17/14, proposed that the Supremes submit copies of their SALN to the Ombudsman for transparency sake. That way, Pimentel said,
the public could access the justices financial disclosure.
