ANG
PAGSULAY SA LIDERATO NI YOWERI MUSEVENI
Yoweri
Museveni, has unmistakably carved his name in the history as one of the very
few leaders worldwide, if not the first one, to bravely raise a howl of protest
against the recognition of gay rights. By stamping his seal of disapproval over the
law that condemns gays, he forecloses the chances of being considered as a leader who bleeds for his poverty-stricken nation.
As
president of Uganda, he certainly finds it easier to say no to international
clamor recognizing gay rights than resolving ethnic cleansing which has been terrorizing his people for ages.
We'll
wait and see. The true test of
leadership shall come when the smoke on
this issue in Uganda clears. Under pain of a fading hope to expect for donations
to pour in his country in exchange for his adverse stance, his obscure
alternative in sourcing out funds to alleviate poverty is fast becoming a
matter of national interest as his country and people will later on see.
Clearly,
it is his strength and courage to say no to the request of Barrack Obama to
recognize gay rights that makes him an international sensation.
