Kaban ni D_BystandeR: PROBLEMA SA GUINADILI NGA DRUGAS, MIKUYANAP SA INAHAN NGA NAGPATUTOY UG ANAK
It has been said that law is supposed
to be strict and uncompromising and should not entertain any sign of weakness
in carrying out its assigned task. But the three police officers of Consolacion
Police Station are now facing administrative charges on account of a 40-year
old woman who escaped from their custody after she was allowed to breastfeed
her 4-month old child crying uncontrollably outside her prison cell, out of
pity.
It was too late when they noticed the
woman had escaped. There are some cases far serious than this where prisoners
with criminal cases like crime of murder had escaped but due to some other
reasons and in most cases it involved monetary considerations. This, to me is
exceptional because this is the first time I read in the news where a
woman-prisoner had escaped out of pity for her crying 4-month old baby. Usually
the prisoner had escaped because the police officer was bribed, but this is
different. I would rather choose that this case against the three police be
taken lightly against them by their superior officers because the reason of the
escape is exceptionally bothering to their conscience.
And it's now hard to find among police
authorities to see people of this kind with "conscience." The case of
illegal drugs affecting even nursing mothers is an alarming indication that
people living in the countrysides are now exposed to extreme poverty that the
present-day rulers have sadly failed to address.
