Only 300 families? I'm sure we can accommodate more. Not a single offer from the hotels around Metro  Cebu? Unbelievable! Goes to show that profits come first for these establishments. This is a crisis of great magnitude, about time we open the doors to those survivors in Tacloban and other parts of the affected areas that we can provide help until such time things start to settle down.

Ping Gonzales: Do you know the exact numbers of about 300 families, let's just say the approximate number is times three then, how many would that be then aside from their bedding accommodation how about other facilities like toilet, laundry, bathing space and to add space for these people to stretch meaning to exhaust their energy. Herald, can you accommodate even 5 families in your

place if you can for God's sake?

You are missing the point Ping. Right now when the situation is desperate the main thing is for these people to be given a bit of normalcy in their lives. There's no place like home when the situation over there is stabilized. But for the time being we have to extend all the help we couldgive to these people.

 I agree to your idea of extending a no-nonsence help to the evacuees from the disaster-stricken area of Tacloban City. Likewise, I appreciate the reported move of Mayor Mike Rama to help the evacuees saying, he wants them to see the light that right here in our place, Cebu Citywelcomes them. He even talked about postponing the CVRAA athletic meet slated next month to pave the way for the Cebu  City Sports Complex to serve as temporary evacuation center for  the typhoon survivors from Tacloban City. If he so desires, maybe he can ask Mr. Ballesteros and, in effect, overrule him over that athletic meet because according to him (Rama), it can take a backseat to a more pressing need to give charity to the typhoon survivors. And he also calls the city's Social Welfare Department to attend to the needs of the evacuees for their basic necessities. This is one particular move of Mayor Mike that I would heartily acknowledge with my sincerest thanks that, at last, he has learned to use his heart for helping the families urgently in need of help. But on the other hand, I can still see in contrast the reaction of some of our businessmen who would rather see a number of those crying for help to die of hunger by issuing statements that they are in need of more troops to guard their warehouses from looters instead of helping the government find ways so that massive help to reach our hungry brothers and sisters can be facilitated. They prefer to hold their "coin purse" closest to their breast rather than parting a considerable portion of it to assuage the pain and the suffering of those families who have fallen unwilling victims of that tragic disaster. Alas, I am reminded of what our Lord Jesus Christ says, "It is better to have a camel passed through the eye of the needle than to let a rich man pass through it."
