Kaban ni D_BystandeR: ANG PAGKASINSERO SA MGA PINILI'NG OPISYALES SA SUGBO MASUWAYAN
This
is something that put to a test the sincerity of Cebu City public officials with
regards to a question of how valid was the expenses that was charged to "calamity
fund" when Cebu City, everybody knows, was not seriously hit hard by typhoon Yolanda compared to places like Tacloban City and northern Cebu towns. And yet, because they want "everybody happy," nobody attempted
to question it at the time when papers were still in process because nobody
wants to be called "a kill joy?!" Mayor Mike Rama should have used
his office to exercise sound discretion because sooner or later someone might have the gut to question
the soundness of that move. This is a
test case and the outcome could either prove to be good or bad
for
Mayor Mike, considered as the "leader of the pack!"
Footnote:
This comment came out in connection with a TF headline, "Rama, officials
sued over 'aid.'" A concerned lawyer Reymelio Delute took up the challenge
and questioned the distribution of funds as "aid" to Cebu City
officials and employees. at P20T each, including Mayor Mike, that was charged
to "calamity fund." The complaint was filed in the Office of the President. As a result, the city
officials were directed by the Office of the President to submit their reply within
15 days starting yesterday (07/03/14) to respond to the complaint.
