Relying too much on
politics can transform an "honorable man's image" into something
else, devoid of a just and fair appreciation of the facts of life that require
someone to avoid the temptation to wield his political power to the detriment
of a community where the officials do not belong to his political party. Mayor
Ady Sitoy should have refrained from enforcing
his political will as town mayor to disrupt the barangay operation belonging to
opposite political camp by avoiding to invoke whatever possible legal loophole
in the interest of fair play. When his niece ran and lost in the election for
barangay captain, he ought to respect its result. For as we grow older every
day, we can only think of nothing but to leave a legacy of fairness to our
constituents.

headline, "Barangay treasurer appeals suspension."
