Kaban ni D_BystandeR: DALAYGON ANG PAGPATUNGA NI GOV. JUN SA KONTROBERSIYA SA ARGAO
I
believe that Gov. Jun Davide is on the right side of the controversy as he
cannot just afford to turn a blind eye to not giving his views and preference
to resolve a "conflict" bordering on a "misinterpretation"
of how facts are supposed to be treated in a practical manner. As a
"true-bloodied" Argao-anon, Gov. Jun cannot afford to stay on the sidelines with folded
hands knowing too well he has the upper-hand in instituting "fairness and
the needed understanding" to the relevant
issues involved. This is a situation where I commend Gov. Jun's reaction and eagerness to
solve an impasse which could have been
the subject of a discussion with
"cooler heads" to understand what could be a simple case that has become
complicateddue to different interpretations. And the solution, if the Governor succeeds, could mean the realization
to the dreams of the mountain barangay
folks to have an access road in a
forested area for their own welfare and convenience.
Footnote:
This comment came out in connection with a Cebu Daily News headline,
"Davide: Need to strike a balance
in Argao conflict." This refers to a case where the Argao Mayor Galeos has
a conflict with DENR people in his town in connection with a "2-km.
barangay road" built that traversed a forested area which the DENR believed
was not in accordance with the way things should be done.
