Kaban ni D_BystandeR: DILI PATAS ANG HALWA SA MGA KABOS UG MGA SENADOR???
When
Sen. Antonio Trillanes was asked in a TV interview with Karen Davila about
"special treatment" accorded to Bong Revilla and Jinggoy Estrada because
they are given better living quarters compared to ordinary lawbreakers, he said
there's nothing wrong with it because even in other countries the trend is now to
give them better accommodations in order to rehabilitate them.
Under
the present system, prisoners who are less privileged compared to senators and other
high ranking government officials are given substandard accommodations that one
can easily predict they cannot be expected to successfully rehabilitate because
of the difficult environment they suffered inside and most likely they become a
liability to society when they get out that most often they are seen coming
back as hardened criminals.
But
if only these errant lawmakers had religiously followed their sacred oaths of
office and did not succumb to the temptation
to enrich their own pockets to the detriment of the people whom the money was
intended to help them improve their lives, things would have gone better for
everybody including the improvement of prisoners' lives under incarceration. It
is lamentable that the lawmakers
involved in the pork barrel scam have lost their rare chance to become useful pillars of
our country for they allowed themselves
to sink into the quagmire of irredeemable greed!
