NOY, 'CRONY' HIT for land grabbing. An activist peasant group has assailed President Aquino for the alleged brazen land-grabbing and eviction of farmers by one of his alleged cronies in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan.

 The Kilusang Magbubukid ng Pilipinas (KMP) named the Aquino "crony" as contractor Jose Acuzar, brother-in-law of Executive Secretary Paquito Ochoa.  Acuzar is the chairman of New San Jose Builders and alleged owner of Goldenville Realty and Development Corp. which is being accused of illegally converting more than 85 hectares of productive agricultural lands into a relocation site and forcing the eviction of farmers in Barangay Kaybanban in San Jose del Monte, Bulacan, by the National Housing Authority's (NHA) Towerville 7.

 In July last year, the New San Jose Builders Inc. denied the KMP's claim, saying "neither Acuzar nor the San Jose Builders Inc. was awarded relocation contracts because of his contribution to President Aquino's political campaign war chest, and is not, in any way, connected with Goldenville Realty and Development Corp."  But in claiming that Acuzar also owns the Goldenville Realty and Development Corp., the KMP pointed to an October 2005 report by the Philippine Center for Investigative Journalism (PCIJ) stating that "Goldenville Realty and Development Corp., said to be similarly owned by Jose Acuzar, chairman of the board of NSJB." "The forced eviction of farmers started last March 7 and to date, more than 54 farmers were already evicted by Goldenville Realty in Barangay Kaybanban," said KMP secretary-general Antonio Flores.  He noted that Goldenville Realty employed private security guards and the 48th Infantry Battalion in destroying the farmers' houses and crops.  "Obviously, this brazen land-grabbing, demolition of houses, and forced eviction of farmers from their lands will not happen without the blessing of Malacanang," Flores stressed.  The KMP noted that Acuzar reportedly owns the mansion in Samar Street that serves as the headquarters of the "Samar faction" that had campaigned for the "Noy-Bi" (Aquino-Binay) tandem during 2010 elections. 

The KMP also said "the 85 hectares was covered by the government's Comprehensive Agrarian Reform Program (CARP) and was declared as part of the agrarian reform community in Kaybanban." "Barangay Kaybanban is a testament to the sham CARP's failure to defend farmers of their rights to the lands. The Aquino government itself acts as the land-grabber in order to push an anomalous resettlement project,: Flores said.  "Under the guise of relocating the urban poor, the Aquino government would evict and deny farmers of their rights to the lands," the KMP leader stressed.  The KMP called on the Department of Agrarian Reform to immediately issue a "cease anddesist" order against the illegal conversion being done by Goldenville Realty.
