Credentials to rub elbows with people in power are by no means indicative of integrity, educational attainment, or status in society.

Some people are simply good at it, including those who can pull off a "Ponzi" scheme and gather 99% of those privileged to receive pork barrel entitlements to endear to that person with a "Midas touch" - ability to turn an apparently sealed-tight government process into a goldmine - "legitimate thievery of people's money in broad daylight"

Mafia godfathers are revered like citizens beyond suspicion as well. The West couple needed to be rescued with or without Walden Bello's special closeness to the Commander-in Chief. That is the responsibility of the police first & foremost. No big deal to know the president personally to stress the urgency. The infant who died of dehydration at the evacuation center was ironically unattended by the authorities. Had Bello known about it, would he been able to save the baby's life by a mere sms to his ally, P-Noy?

Mr. Walden Bello is a prolific writer and his experience as such has allowed him to "rub elbows" with the late Hugo Chavez of Venezuela in an occasion where he was invited by the Venezuelan President in a memorable gathering held in his country.

It was there where he had interacted with Pres. Chavez and his personal account of that meeting with the Venezuelan strongman was something to reckon with and it only displayed his remarkable prowess and exemplary credential in how to deal with a head of state like what he did by sending a text message to Pres. Noynoy in that critical moment in Zamboanga City where he asked "special favors" from the President for the rescue of a couple - Luisita and James West, in their 60s - as referred to him by some of his "close contacts" in that city. Calling him "Prof." like what a close friend would, as per his "account of their interaction," and it would clearly indicate that the President has high regards to the person of Mr. Bello.

And true it is because Mr. Bello has, in many instances, proven himself to be a respected pillar in the legislative body when it comes to making himself successfully aggressive and convincingly persuasive in presenting a bill in congress. I therefore doffed my hat to Mr. Bello in this particular accomplishment of saving the precious lives of the couple, through the courtesy of no less than our Pres. Noynoy, who came out luckily alive together with some of the hostages in that horrible ordeal.
