The ugly side of how vindictive is Mike Rama when it comes to his treatment of barangay captains not allied with his political party is best exemplified in the case of Barangay Tejero where its Barangay Captain Jessielou Cadungog was deprived of at  least P12 million worth of projects and financial assistance budgeted for his barangay last year. Cadungog said Tejero has not received a garbage truck and a Toyota Innova vehicle like other barangays. Rama also refused to sign documents to authorize  the conversion of his unused leave credits to cash worth P30,000. "Gusto sa mayor nga moadto ko sa City Hall aron mag-estorya mi (The mayor wanted me to talk to him at the City Hall)," Cadungog said, which the mayor confirmed to local media. Cadungog said he refused to visit the mayor for fear that Rama would only scold him for supporting the Bando Osmena-Pundok Kauswagan (BO-PK)  of Rep. Tomas Osmena. Barangay Tejero has a voting population  of 8,673. Majority of its barangay officials except Councilor Merlyn Servila is allied with BO-PK. Early this week, Rama and Cadungog had a confrontation during a Team Rama rally in Sitio Vilgon,  Alviola Street in Barangay Tejero over the absence of funding for  the barangay's infrastructure projects.

COMMENT: What makes it most distasteful was the refusal of Mike Rama to sign documents to authorize the conversion of Cadungog's  unused leave credits to cash amounting to P30,000. Rama's signature  would have only been ministerial because Cadungog earned it. But using the power of his office to deprive a barangay captain not allied with his political party of his monetary benefits that accrue to him is too personal and too cheap to imagine. It truly unmasked the real personality of Rama that does not deserve the executive post he occupies in the City Hall as mayor.
