PAGLAOM, HINAGIBAN SA PANAGDAUG NGA MAKALILISANG!!!
Doubtlessly,
the recent celebration of Labor Day
added insult to injury.
Almost
always, the hapless workers place themselves at the receiving end of the
table by taking the measly pie in
exchange for an abusive "working environment". Whether we like it or not, we have not seen
enough of the unspeakable lies underneath every contractual agreement.
Amidst
the terrible onslaught of the workers' rights,
the clamor for major changes in
the existing state of affairs of employment has reverberated throughout the entire country. Anti-climactic as it may seem, the overhauling of labor laws by abhorring
contractualization and demanding the termination of all vestiges of abuses by employers and business stakeholders come out as the ultimate solutions to end the seeming standoff.
While
the constitution states in clearest terms the promotion of social justice over
cruel and inhumane treatment of labor but everything is lip service.
Accordingly, “ x-x-x the
State should always show compassion and afford protection to those who are in
most need––the laborers. Knowing that poverty and gross inequality are among
the major problems of our country, then laws and procedures which have the aim
of alleviating those problems should be liberally construed and interpreted in
favor of the underprivileged.x-x-x-“
Sadly, the workers continue to kowtow to the questionable terms and conditions of their
employment just to feed their empty stomachs.
Winning the war against poverty
is not the only thing, it is everything
if we cling on to the belief that, " while there is life, there is hope".
