Kaban ni D_BystandeR: DILI KATUOHAN ANG PANGUMPISAL NI VICTOR CORPUZ!!!

I don't easily accept as gospel truth what you cited as confession by renegade Victor Corpuz to Max Soliven. The facts of the event leading to the bombing of Plaza Miranda on August 21, 1971 was so impressive to create a scenario that logically favors the Liberal Party that suffered its defeat to the Nacionalista Party under Pres. Ferdinand Marcos in the 1969 presidential elections that was dubbed as "Dayaan '69" instead of "Halalan '69," due to the massive electoral frauds that characterized the said election. And to entertain a bizarre twist just because of that confession made by Corpuz is to glorify a historical distortion of facts that would surely be without logical connection. Just imagine, even the coming late of Ninoy Aquino to attend that fateful "Miting de Avance" was given a different interpretation by some quarters who were out to put the blame to the Liberal Party members themselves with insinuation that Ninoy could have been forewarned about it that was why he came in late. We all know that Marcos was a brilliant lawyer, and that he was even acquitted in the murder of Julio Nalundasan, a strong political enemy of Marcos' father, despite the preponderance of evidence which points to his guilt where his missing rifle in the UP armory coincides with the kind of rifle used in the fatal shooting of the victim. That Marcos could have been the possible "brainchild" of that "brain-twisting" theory that it was all the handiwork of the NPA's, cannot be easily discounted.

Footnote: This comment came out in connection with a column of Bobit Avila in The FREEMAN which lengthily discussed the alleged confession made by renegade Victor Corpuz to Max Soliven, a newspaper publisher, that Joma Sison, considered as the overall chairman of the NPA now in self-exile in Netherlands, had personal knowledge about that Plaza Miranda bombing in 1971, therefore, absolving the Marcos administration of any participation whatsoever of that dastardly act which was aimed to wipe out the entire leadership of the opposition in the Liberal Party.
