Felix Reyes:
News headline:
"Biden callls Noy, backs Phl troops." Our 70 Filipino UN peacekeepers
are doing their job to protect the interest of the United Nations. They are not
there to fight war, but to maintain peace and order in that region. The
situation of our soldiers in the Golan Heights needs immediate attention from
the Philippine government, so that their safety and security are guaranteed.
Our UN envoy must go to the Golan Heights to observe the actual situation
himself, which is his primary duty to report to the Filipino people and not
only staying at the UN Assembly in New York.

I find it irreconcilable
and hard to justify that a demand is made to require our Philippine UN envoy to
go to Golan Heights himself from his official station in New York "to
observe the actual situation." Knowing that Golan Heights is a volatile
area, I find this call made out of some misguided ideas that is filled with
personal "bitterness" towards the envoy. I think he can do more
valuable work in his present place of assignment to helpour beleaguered troops
than going to the place at war. He could be killed there if he is exposed to
"war hostilities."
