Kaban ni D_BystandeR: NAKAHUYATID NA ANG KASO SA PAGLUTHANG PATAY NI MANLALABAN ARCHIVAL
The snail-paced
investigation of the Archival murder case suffered a major setback when the
entire Cebu Provincial Prosecutors' Office inhibited themselves from handling the case. But thanks to the saving
efforts exerted by the Regional State Prosecutor who chose Prosecutor Rodrigo
Tagaan, who hailed from Lapu-Lapu City, to handle the case and designated him
as the Acting Provincial Prosecutor, the case is now getting encouraging
development as 3 HPG cops are now indicted after finding probable cause for
their involvement in the ambush-slaying of lawyer Noel Archival and two of his
close-aides on that fateful day of Feb. 18 when their group inside their car on
their way home to Cebu City from Dumaguete City was treacherously ambushed in barangay Corro,
Dalaguete. More than 6 months after the commission of the crime the people are
happy, especially the close relatives of the victims, that they are nearing the
fulfillment of their objective to see to it that the murderers are convicted
and meted out a punishment they deserved. Special mention was made to offer
thanks to the courageous efforts exerted by NBI Region 7 officials who
spearheaded the solution of the crime, and also to the other police agencies
who contributed help for the discovery of the suspects. It was a complicated
task and it was like "finding a needle from a haystack."
