Why do we have alarmists
in our midst painting gory details of Martial Law in 1972? We are in 2017. We
have a constitution that protects us from abuses and prevents the recurrence of
oppression under a tyrannical rule. Why exaggerate the declaration of Martial Law
in Mindanao treating it as reminiscent of the Marcos era?
Have Former President Fidel
Ramos, Vice President Leni Robredo and Chief Justice Lourdes Sereno not moved
on? They must hark the clarion call of unity to inspire the administration in
going after all the lawbreakers instead of stereotyping the exercise of
legitimate functions of Digong in declaring Martial Law as prelude to abuses
and warning people of its effects. They should extend a hand to make people aware that the lawlessness perpetrated
by elements of Maute and ISIS deserves the military might of government through Martial Law.
The people of Marawi City
have spoken and the rest of our concerned countrymen support fully the declaration of Martial Law.
It is best to criticize Digong's act with open mind rather than mouthing
unfounded worries which only a mouth full of thrash can speak.
Eroding the trust of the
people on the democratic processes such as condemning the declaration of Martial
Law in Mindanao based on fancy is not only counter productive but shows no rhyme or reason in the bar of public opinion.
