KONTROBERSIYA SA DENGVAXIA, PADAYONG MAKAPABALISA
The “dengvaxia report” of Senator
Dick Gordon deserves full blown debate in the halls of the Senate. Notwithstanding
its recommendation finding former President
Noynoy Aquino’s inclusion in the list of
government employees to be charged with
negligence for failing to identify the consequences of allowing dengvaxia
vaccine to be used for the public despite its inherent risks, some senators
have remained mum in not agreeing with the finding. In fact, only 13 senators signed the
report to be brought to the plenary for full-blown debate.
Well, in our country, where senators
allied with former President Aquino still lording it over the helms of the Senate,
the public in general have yet to see the end of the dengvaxia
controversy. The parents of those children who died due to perceived dengvaxia
side effects will continue to agonize in
silence and await the result of this latest projected deliberation in the Senate.
Now that Gordon's report has become
ripe for debate, it is clear that people must be doubly vigilant to whatever direction the discussion may lead
them to. Otherwise, the identity of those government officials deserving to be charged in courts
arising from this controversy will forever fall into the miasma of confusion.
