Kaban ni D_BystandeR: LIBRENG SAKAY SA TALISAY

The Talisay City government is giving free bus ride to residents to Cebu City every day. Called the "JVR Bus Libreng Sakay Alang sa mga Talisaynon," the service is from 7am to 8:30am and from 5pm to 6pm, Monday to Friday. The bus started operation one month ago (06/01/14). Pick-up point is at City Hall in Barangay Lawaan 2 and drop-off is at Plaza Independencia in Cebu City. The bus plies Cebu South Coastal Road passing South Road Properties (SRP). Bus carries up to 70 passengers. Mayor JVR said one resident died after falling off a 10-wheeler truck for free ride to Cebu City. JVR bought the bus for P1.4M. He also uses personal fund to buy fuel for the bus. To recoup his money, JVR says he rents out the bus during weekends. JVR plans to buy another bus to serve more constituents.

Comment: Mayor JVR never runs out of good ideas he can think of for the good of the people of Talisay City. A few months ago, he was making news when he visited the city's poor in Talisay hospital, giving something to help those confined and also some financial aid out of his own pocket to those family members attending to their sick relatives so they can buy something to eat while doing some errand jobs for the sick. Mayor JVR is "heaven sent" as its City Mayor. More power to you, Mayor JVR!
