Kaban ni Lino Labra: KINSA SI JESSICA SANCHEZ?
JESSICA SANCHEZ |
What is an American Idol? He or
she can sing, cute, good looking either white or black---the type that American
teen agers would like to date with. Jessica, sporting the look of minority in
America, is at the bottom of the young voters' list who traditionally dictated
the winner of this reality competition. She posseses no qualities to be
likeable as America's idol. She looks mature in her choice of songs and
demeanor to American teen agers. Her songs are not popular to the general text
voters. Its either Philipp or Colton for the girls and Elise or Hollie for the
boys. Their idols are the contestants who sing their songs and whose
lifestories appeal to them. Had it not been for the save decision of the
judges, she would have been voted out in this competition by now.
Jessica is 16 years old with the
voice and stage presence of a pro. She is not the happy-go-lucky teen ager like
the most of the young Americans. Her marketing video is typical Filipino melo
drama effect of a young daughter from a
struggling parents who joined this competition to help the family. While this
is an effective marketing strategy in the Philippines, it does not connect to
the text voters of American Idols. They dont understand poverty and
responsibility of a member of the family even at young age because they have no
experience of suffering from financial problem in the family.
I agree with Randy for declaring
that Jessica is one the best singers in America. Take note in America and not
only in this competition. Ever . . ever.
. . Tyler added. Beyonce lost her "Sweet Dreams" to Jessica.
"Stuteering" is unknown in the music scene before Jessica delivered a
superb performance in Top 7 elimination and now it is No 3 in Itune
downloading. Billy Joel's "Everybody Has Dream" is no longer his with
Jessica singing her female version better than the original.
I don't agree on racism thing
that pulled her votes down last American Idol elimination because Jessica and
Heejun (Korean) would not have reached in the top ten if the voters were racist
in their decision. American Idol is not a talent search but a popularity
contest that is why it is called American Idol and not American Talent. You
will become an idol of the Americans if you are popular among the young text
voters. If you are not, you will not win despite your talent because this is
American Idol.
