Kaban ni D_BystandeR: TALAGSAON ANG KABAYANIHON NI ANHING INSPEKTOR GEORGE CAÑA

Like finding a needle in a haystack, such is the  kind of person in authority that you can compare the kind of stuff he was made of. In death, Chief Inspector George Cana is there being glorified by  the people whom he served and by his well-meaning friends and peers out of his noble deeds that he  didn't mind losing his life and an honorable military career as long as he can bravely show to the whole world that nobody can cow him to shamelessly submit to a shady deal with those engaged in illegal drugs just as long as he can proudly show his competence and an unyielding obsession to fight to erase illegal business in his area of responsibility. If only all the police officers are like him who is fully determined to eradicate illegal problem in our country, the fight against illegal drugs would have long been won. But look at the news we have in  Talamban, Cebu City.

Recently, there was a news report that says about 20 of the 42 police officers there are in cahoots with those engaged in illegal drugs or, to say it differently, they are the "drug protectors." But since nobody is brave enough to risk his life from the group of barangay officials who broke that story to name names, they are still there "busy doing their thing in the shadows." The number one problem and the possible solution how to eliminate this drug menace should start from the top and those in the lower ranks will just follow suit

Footnote: This comment came out in connection with a Banat News headline, "Cana mibuhis sa iyang kinabuhi vs. illegal drugs." Chief Inspector George Cana was recently ambushed dead (at nighttime few minutes after 7pm) while on his way to Ubay, Bohol from Talibon, Bohol (a distance of probably 69 kms.) where he was the town's Chief of Police by men riding in two cars believed to be from a group of disgruntled people engaged in illegal drugs who probably didn't like his relentless campaign against illegal drugs in his area of responsibility.
