Kaban ni D_BystandeR: BASAHON SA MABULOKONG KINABUHI NI MANONG JOHNNY

President Noynoy's use of the word, "hopefully," is the most appropriate, smart term to describe the contents of the book: "Juan Ponce Enrile - A Memoir" written by JPE, without necessarily committing something to endorse the book for "general patronage."

We have not yet read a copy of that book but I can just imagine how the author "tiptoed" on the delicate points which I'm sure will pose a big problem to a neophyte writer on how to "wither" the probable "eyesore subjects" that in the end will not boomerang to the author. The book in itself is a challenge to young "bookworms" to discover for themselves how this "brilliant and audacious guy," despite his being in the twilight of his "time" at age 88 was still able to write a book and managed to reflect a very delicate memoirs of his life, "unabridged or not." And I think it will be everybody's guess if it's a "thumbs up" or a "thumbs down."  The launching of the book was held at a Makati Hotel, Thursday, September 27, 2012. Among the visitors who witnessed the launching were a variety of "blazing" personalities like Mrs. Imelda R. Marcos, who was made known worldwide of her 3,000 expensive shoes; Erap, the President whose unfinished term was taken over by GMA; "Ka Eddie," (Ex-pres. FVR);and Pres. Noynoy; and a hosts of others who are also considered "heavyweights" in the current setup of the government. Citing a glimpse about his book, Enrile said, "The people I mention and the events I depict  here were those that I had personally encountered and witnessed along my journey. I have no intention to make myself look good at the expense of others, or to settle old scores with anyone."  From 2000 pages of manuscripts it was trimmed down to 772 pages by Nelson Navarro, a journalist. The Senate President thanked Pres. Aquino's "graciousness for showing up despite the rather colorful encounters I had with the martyred Ninoy Aquino and the much-admired icon of democracy, Pres. Cory."  Of Enrile's book, the President said, "it will hopefully give us an opportunity to hear insights from the side of those who decided for instance, to experiment with strongman rule.

What went through their minds back then? How do they choose to remember it now? It was a well-crafted event that proved to be a successful event to reckon with.
