It happened in Davao City recently when I read in the news that its City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte issued the warning to police scalawags involved in any illegal activities to get out of his "turf" or they will face their "end." Mayor Duterte has been known to be a "tough administrator" who does not find excuses in carrying out his mandate to clean his city from any "undesirable elements," be they garbed in "police robes" or "big time" syndicates. In Cebu City, this is a new development and the people are expecting some tangible results out of this that it will not only become "a waste of their saliva" in making a pronouncement that lacks a strong determination to make a successful "follow through."

Footnote: This comment came out in connection with a news item in Banat News, entitled, "Mga 'Police scalawags' nailhan na." It came out on March 5, 2015. The news was attributed to City Councilor Dave Tumulak who revealed that "police scalawags" are already known and that plans are afoot to make them answerable for their involvement in some "shady deals."
