Kaban ni D_BystandeR: ANG KATAPUSAN DILI MAHIBAW-AN
Like what they say, death comes to you in whatever form: Whether you are in the middle of a "stolen" sleep like what happened to an OFW Florentino Santiago who took a nap inside his driven truck parked by the roadside when the accident happened; while eating a delicious food inside a restaurant; or while delivering a fiery speech in a political campaign - it doesn't matter to
this guy who is widely portrayed as dressed in a black robe with a dark-colored shawl hanging from his head down to his lanky shoulder that partly covered his bony face and carrying a stick with a rusty scythe fastened at its far end. The stick is long enough for him to reach his object even if it is perched above far away from him. His name is dreadful to hear nobody likes it but himself, his name is DEATH! The bible says death comes to you in your unguarded moments like a thief in the night. Reports gathered by his wife in one TV interview disclosed that the place where her husband died was 200 meters away from where the fuel tanker delivery truck was located when it caught fire. It turned out the said truck while travelling hit its side to a concrete bridge in a curve thereby gushing its side and spilling the fuel in a long stretch of road before it finally ignited to become a huge inferno leaving behind it a trail of devastation suffered not only causing death to a single victim who is an OFW and injuries to people by the roadside but also to the nearby buildings that were set aflame in the process. My prayers and condolence go to this ill-fated man Florentino Santiago who died of this fiery accident and to his wife and daughter, 15, and son, 8, and other concerned relatives who are now confronted with the reality of his death.
He was reportedly in his 5th year working there away from home just to earn a living to feed his family. VP Jojo Binay's help in asking and coordinating with the concerned government agencies to exhaust all efforts for the expeditious processing of the necessary papers in repatriating the vicim's remains to the Philippines is highly commended.
