Kaban ni D_BystandeR: MAY KASIKAS KON KABAYBAYONAN HAWANAN

The possibility to relocate people living in the shoreline areas will surely be an uphill move as it is expected to meet strong resistance from people whose livelihood is largely connected to their coastal location. Mayor Paz Radaza of LapuLapu City expected its implementation early next year or in the middle period.

This was decided in the aftermath of what happened to Tacloban City where thousands of our fellowmen perished in that tragedy. Since time immemorial people has already been found  living near the seashore especially the fishermen whose means of livelihood is directly tied up to the resources of the sea. I find this government plan to make it mandatory for those living in the bay area not positively feasible. But if they want to implement it by force a large-scale chaos among the affected poor will surely ensue. In the bay  areas in Manila, the government has appropriated P14B to DILG to undertake the relocation of people affected  by the plan. But the problem is, do we have the available resources to do the same thing in our place, particularly  LapuLapu City and Talisay City, without a huge money set aside for it?
