Why the wheels of justice in the Philippines grinds so slowly, was unwittingly exposed by Yolanda. How? Records (paper records) were lost and the DOJ will be sending typewriters to the area to reconstruct the lost papers. How backwards can you get? It is symptomatic of how we govern ourselves. The Ampatuans are rest assured that they will die without being convicted. The bigger the crime, the slower the process in resolving it. Napoles will be happy to sit it out for three or more years. the fastest cases resolved are those of "chocolate snatchers" and grocery lifters. Throw 'em in the brig andforget about them. How incongruous ever, but that is how the dice are thrown.

(to "farmerpo") You are telling about a sad joke that is happening to the dispensation of justice right here in our country. I remember a case in point many years back about a young teenager who, out of poverty and other social factors was convicted for stealing a ream of cigarettes and was sentenced to "12 long years." But here we have in this case the much publicized "Maguindanao Massacre" where after four years nobody is convicted yet despite the magnitude of those who got murdered in coldblood numbering 58 in all, and this includes 32 media people. And the sad thing is that there is a tendency that government prosecutors are beginning to lose vigor in prosecuting those accused of a crime dubbed as the "crime of the century" because of the much vaunted wealth of the Ampatuans! If P-Noy wants to do something as his legacy to the people he should not be contented in promising only that he will surely find a resolution of this case before the end of his term. The saying, "Aanhin pa ang kumpay kung patay na ang kabayo" still rings true today as it was 100 years ago!
