Kaban ni D_BystandeR: HISGOT BAHIN NI SANTO PEDRO

Note: I came across of a comment in PDI after reading a news item regarding the newly declared St. Pedro Calungsod when that guy who called himself  "123dudley" as his pen name commented that Calungsod was a "murderer" and seemed to downplay his remarkable personal attributes that made him a saint.

You cannot in all honesty call Saint Pedro Calungsod a murderer who became a saint unless you were inclined to say so with a hidden agenda to discredit his person which is a grievous slander and a sacrilege. If you go over the phrase which says, "He struck the suspect named Tumas with a machete and wounded him," but neither did it mention to have killed him. And besides, that native was reported as among a group of those Chamorros, meaning natives of Guam, who earlier attacked a co-worker of Calungsod named Joseph de Peralta purportedly to steal his knives who was out in the woods alone looking for branches of a tree to fashion them into a cross. Granting for the sake of argument he killed that native  just like in "hot pursuit operation" where a police posse captured and killed the "target" in the process, there is no crime of murder committed because the act of killing was "in self-defense and in line of duty."

But if we go further to other saints' life we will notice that St. Paul, before he became a saint, was a ruthless man who persecuted the Christians of old. But he got a miraculous transformation of himself when in one hectic and rigorous campaign in search of Christians to be added to his long list of victims, he was struck by a blinding light where God spoke to him and told him how he viciously persecuted the Christians. It was due to such strange encounter with God that abruptly he became a "changed" man and was instantly converted to become one of God's fearless defender of His teachings and ultimately became a saint. But St. Paul was never called a murderer.

Nahimo siyang mamumuo sa usa ka pribadong kompaniya sa dakbayan sa Sugbo, ESCANO LINES, sulod sa napulo ug duha (12) ka tuig  dayon niyang tapon  ngadto sa NAPOCOR  ug nahimong kawani sa kagamhanan  sulod sa bayente dos (22) ka tuig.
