I am amused with what "Sir Bob" is trying to point out in his column that, above all, he is mindful of the health preservation of politicians especially those he observed as "sickly" and can hardly cope up with their daily routine campaign activities.
He cited among others the case of Tony Cuenco and Arturo "Boy" Radaza of Lapulapu City who chose to decline from joining the political race and instead let somebody from their family run in their behalf. Earlier, or maybe last week, Bobby complained that he was the target of "personal attacks" from some radio block timers whom he did not identify. Accordingly, he surmised it was through the orchestration of Gov. Gwen's consultant he also chose not to identify. Furthermore, he pointed out that even Tommy O in his "pulongpulong" mentioned him for his (Bobby's) penchant to "pick" him with any kind of issues he can think of just for the purpose of maligning him. And this made him exclaimed like a man who indulges in "sadistic pride" that as a result of this "unsavory attacks" against him he will "come out the winner" after the election, he jestingly observed. But is Bobby aware of the saying in Cebuano, "Kun magtanum gani ka ug mga buhat nga sama sa dautang hangin nga gitawag ug "unos" dili nimo kalikayan nga ikaw makapupo usab ug "bagyo." And now he is chiding Tommy for not taking what the other politicians have done, like Tony Cuenco and Boy Radaza, who chose to "lie low" from undertaking hectic political campaigns on account of their health problems. He mentioned the "urine bag" that Tommy is carrying with him all the time where ever he goes campaigning. It looks like he is after of the preservation of Tommy's personal health but in the inner side of him you can see how clever, smart and ill-motivated he is. He calls Tommy a man "greedy with power and wealth" for what the poor man is doing. Can he (Bobby) not see with his own eyes and understand the personal sacrifice Tommy is doing that in spite of his "health condition" he is risking his life just to show and prove to the people of Cebu City and to his constituents that he is fighting for them: for their rights and for the future and well-being of Cebu City. Take the case of the 500 poor casual employees of city hall who were unceremoniously dismissed by Mike Rama just because of his paranoia that they "do not belong to him," politically speaking.
And how many families are affected in the process? One can easily imagine the result is terrible but for Mike Rama that is nothing! Tommy claimed those people voted for him to become the city mayor but in return Rama dismissed them! Tommy's victory in the coming election is viewed by many as a redemption from someone who mismanaged and castigated some innocent people and who does not give a damn to be treating people that way just to "ensure" his political ambition and survival.
