Kaban ni D_BystandeR: DILI MAKIANGAYON ANG HUSTISYA???

I remember a poor woman in Cebu was sentenced to a lifetime imprisonment just for possessing 6 sticks of marijuana. And this man, Margarito Gervacio Jr., who served as overall deputy Ombudsman from 1999 to 2006, who knows everything what the law requires him in submitting his SALN, has intentionally committed a  grievous mistake by failing to declare a 3-story building worth P4M in his SALN  and yet is only given what is called a "slap in the wrist" - only 4 months! This is a mockery of justice!

Footnote: The above-comment was in connection with a news item in PDI, entitled, "Ex-deputy Ombudsman sentenced to 4 months." It came out on January 5, 2015. The decision was penned by Associate Justice Teresita Diaz-Baldoz, the division chair, and was concurred in by Associate Justices Napoleon Inoturan and Maria  Cristina Cornejo. Margarito Gervacio Jr., who served as overall deputy Ombudsman from 1999 to 2006, after he pleaded guilty and admitted during arraignment that he did not include in his 2003 SALN his three-storey house in Mintal, Davao City. Gervacio was granted provisional liberty after his lawyer, Eusebio Avila, told the court that his client would be seeking probation for his sentence. He was convicted of perjury for not declaring his property worth P4M in 2003.
