Kaban ni D_BystandeR: MGA BAG-ONG TUBO NGA MGA MAGBABALAOD, LAYO RA SA TAPAD NILA NI SERGING UG JOVY
Gone are
the days when the irrepressible and fighting personality of Serging was the leading figure that prominently appeared
in numerous sensational controversies hotly discussed and argued in the
hallowed halls of the Philippine Senate, especially during the time when a
Japanese personality by the name of "Haruta" was hitting the headlines.
And the cool and oozing with confidence, was the smiling face of Senator Jovy
Salonga who was described in the Philippines Free Press as making Haruta looked
like a small baby in the crib when subjected to Salonga's cross-examination.
In
any case, it was Serging, the Nino Bonito of Cebu, who always fearlessly
figured as the leading lawmaker who would not hesitate to make his mind speak
out aloud to see to it that he was always there to fight for the interest and popular cause of his countrymen, much
more for his Cebuano constituents. But the present generation of our lawmakers
is a far cry of what our leading lawmakers had shown before in every national
controversy where their names always graced the headline of our national dailies.
But our present crop of lawmakers could be thinking of something to expect out
of their silence to speak their minds aloud in this kind of raging controversy
that involved the loss of some our brave soldiers in that SAF massacre. Maybe
they don't want to antagonize P-Noy and his administration, otherwise they
would not be able to expect some Malacañang goodies for them.
