WALA MAKATAROG ANG KASIKAS SA SENADO!!!

The resignation of Senator Vicente Sotto III, as well as the unceremonious  departure of Sen. Johnny Enrile from the pedestal of Senate leadership,  has failed to send a ripple out into the masses. Neither has it posed significance  nor created  bearing to alleviate the  quivering stomachs of  have-nots who are left behind and abandoned wallowing in  continuing poverty and economic starvation.

Not too long ago,  the general public shuddered at the thought upon seeing some of our Senators indulged themselves in verbal assault unprecedented in all sessions of the Philippine Senate. Charges  and counter-charges  of misdeeds ruled  the day instead of deliberating productive measures of legistlative enactments.

The crucial point to be considered here is the cause of the break up.  Is it one that arises from intense demagoguery and zeal to pursue a legislation that can make or unmake our nation? Is it about issues that will make us  recognizable in the world as  fierce fighters of  our  territorial waters?  Most unfortunately, it is not. It is all about CASH GIFTS.

Let us not  misconstrue the Senate's purpose and why it is created by the constitution. It is not about sharing cash gifts that our good Senators  exist in the  elegance of their attire and lavish offices, it  is not about our Senators running amok because their priced receivables failed to reach them…. It is all about crafting pieces of legislation that benefit the welfare of the greatest majority of the governed.
