Kaban ni D_BystandeR: HUMAN SA MAKUTI NGA PAGTIMBANG-TIMBANG, SI BINAY ANGAYAN BULIGAN

I was an avid fan of Sen. Gerry Roxas before, Mar's father, at the height of martial law under Dictator Marcos. And I followed closely how Gerry carried himself elegantly in he face of menacing threats that lurk by the wayside. He was articulate, honest and in every move that he takes, he was a picture of a true leader our nation needs whether in time of peace or at war. But I cannot see Gerry's traits in his son, whom P-Noy wants to strongly support, by all means, because of what he believes as his "utang na loob." And during the height of controversy posed by the intransigence of our former Cebu Gov. Gwen where she was ultimately slapped by P-Noy administration with a 6-month-suspension, she defiantly holed out herself inside the Cebu  Provincial Capitol, refusing to move out and making it her last line of defense. And it was during that time where Binay, together with Erap and JPE, called UNA's "3-Kings," visited her probably to give her their moral support. i did not approve of Binay's decision to support Gwen because, I believed, she  was not the epitome of a lady worthy of the "3-Kings" support. I began to write some postings against Binay because of what he did. But suddenly my "hostile" treatment against him changed when I noticed Binay was subjected to massive "demolition job" by P-Noy administration.

The powerful hand that shakes the very survival of VP Binay's chances to realize his dream to become the next Malacanang caretaker is so strong that he is now left to choose between the "sharp menacing teeth" of sharks swirling around and ready to devour him on the one hand, and the deep blue sea on the other. In whatever move that he considers to choose, it is always believed a breath-taking one and too perilous for him to tread. It would have been easier for him to avoid whatever outcome if all that confront him is likened to a worst nightmare one finds only in a dream because what it needs for him to do is just to wake up and open his eyes and all the bad dreams disappear. But the problems that confront him is for real. If he is not careful and he adopts what is commonly expected from a person who is desperate and he loses his balance, it will be his end and the end of the hopes of those who are banking on him for the survival of this country from being mercilessly torn into pieces by a bunch of "hungry lions." What is needed here is for VP Binay to take this challenge calmly and to choose the path that is less intimidating and one that is more promising for him to come out triumphant. What the people should ponder about is that it is hard to find a saint in our midst at this time. The most logical thing to do is to choose the lesser evil and with this reality I have no doubt that VP Binay will come out the winner!

Finally, I  have decided to cast my vote of confidence in favor of Binay whom I believed was not fairly treated and who, if compared to the others, will far outweigh in matters of personal credential. I tried to search the minutest detail of his life during the time he fought against martial law with unequivocal vigor and resoluteness of a real fighter. And there I know how he ably served President Cory to the best of his ability during the early days where Pres. Cory declared  somewhat like a revolutionary kind of government. Binay served the President with all his heart so that at the last moment when her term expired and the incoming President FVR took his oath of office, I read an article written by  Binay about that sentimental moment filled with poignant memories that it was Binay who was left to take care and accompany Pres. Cory home because most of the people who used to form their group around Her Excellence were already busy extending their greetings to the new leader FVR. Even at the last moment, Binay showed he was "the last soldier" who stood by his Captain of the Ship, who remained loyal to her and chose to accompany Pres. Cory in those lonely moments by her side.

Footnote: This comment came out in reply to somebody using the name "batangpaslit" in the comment portion of PDI, where he tried to ask me out of his curiosity whether I am going to support Mar Roxas in 2016. The news item was about the senate hearing held in connection with the Iloilo Convention Center where Senate President Franklin Drilon was charged with plunder. It was my sad observation that of all the senators who attended the inquiry, only Senator Nancy Binay tried to ask some questions to the resource persons in attendance to shed light into the controversy but after a couple of questions she was cut off by Drilon why she did not directly shoot the question to him and instead "was going around the bush." Chairman Teofisto Guingona III called for a recess to stop the "heated atmosphere" and when it resumed, Sen. Binay was already asking Drilon directly. It was not known if Nancy was allowed to ask her line of questioning  directly to the resource persons if she would be able to extract helpful information to shed light into the "mess." The PDI news came out on 11/13/14.
