Kaban ni D_BystandeR: MGA NANIMUYO SA SAM-ANG NI DOÑA PEPANG, HULBOTON???

Now that his plan to convert Dona Pepang cemetery into a public park suffered a backlash from the public, Mayor Mike Rama is trying to deflect the blame to Tommy O by presenting a letter dated July 16, 2008, ostensibly authored by Tommy. Whether it is signed or not by Tommy is  beside the point. The fact that it was not carried out during Tommy's term as city mayor only shows that the plan was probably discarded or cancelled because it might have been realized by Tommy that pushing it through will not look beneficial to his image in the end and will only  entitle him to the people's ridicule. There is a saying which says, "Only a fool does not change his mind." And being a normal human being, Tommy could have changed his mind and dumped the plan to the trash. And woe to Rama who took Tommy's scratch from the garbage, believing it was still a good idea!

I don't know what's happening to us, is it a curse to Cebuanos that we are given a city mayor in the person of Mike Rama whose heart does not belong to the poor? What he did to Mahiga Creek dwellers before, to the different places hit by fires in the city where fire victims were prevented from going back to the place after the fire to rebuild their houses because of his "reblocking" staunch, you name it, and what you get is a picture of a man who treats the poor like they are not human beings. Now he wants the people living in Doña Pepang cemetery for a long time to vacate the place. And those with loved ones buried there are  urged to spend their own money to transfer the remains of their dead relatives to other places. No problem for him if he transfers his grandma's remains to Cebu Memorial Park because he has "money to burn!" But for those who even have a problem to have 3 square meals a day, the possibility of that kind of expenditure is already unbearable to them  that they will have no other recourse except to cry out of utter  helplessness. It is such an inhuman act by any language!
