Kaban ni D_BystandeR: NAAMONG SA POLITIKA ANG MGA BIKTIMA NI YOLANDA???
To receive a tongue-lashing from Czar
Lacson is expected because Lacson is supposed to act as the alter-ego of the
P-Noy administration, which is shown to have made a mockery of its response to
the people of Tacloban City shortly after the devastating effect of typhoon
Yolanda was felt by the country and by the whole world that the international
community of friendly nations poured their help to Tacloban in any way they
can. The ugly face of politics was given more importance by P-Noy to show his
personal wrath to his political enemies which should not have been the case,
being considered as the father of the country as its President expected to take
care of his people in times of calamity regardless of political realities.
P-Noy has sadly missed the point and he should not be surprised that his
popular image, as shown in the poll surveys, has been receiving the worst
"beating" in his political career. He bungled the rare opportunity to
be known for his greatness in times of need. And for all you know, if you were
able to keep track of the news that came out shortly after Yolanda's landfall in
Tacloban City, it was reported that Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez was
just simply lucky he was able to come out alive because his house was badly
battered by the strong waves. And right after the punishing wrath of typhoon
Yolanda subsided, Mayor Romualdez was reported to have personally driven his
heavy equipment to do whatever he can to clear the road in his vicinity of the
debris that lay everywhere.
Let's go straight to the point. First, it was told there is a study made to transfer the airport in Tacloban City to ther place most likely in the town of Palo where P-Noy's political allies reside. When Tacloban City Mayor Alfred Romualdez debunked the claim that no study is made getting the info direct from the "horse's mouth," another reason was given. If it is not politics that principally calls for the transfer, I don't know what is. Mayor Romualdez suggested that the P12B intended for building the new airport should better be used to spend for the rehabilitation of the typhoon survivors to improve their lot as they have been the victims of the worst devastation created by typhoon Yolanda. That sounds to be the most reasonable and practical option to do. But proponents of the transfer with reason primarily based on politics will not listen to the suggestion no matter how logically correct is the argument. The present administration has all the powers in their hands and they don't care whether they lack reason or credibility to drive home their point. To people drunk with power, they will not listen to all kind of arguments because they are the BOSS!
Footnote: This comment came out in connection with a news item appearing in Philstar that there is a plan by the administration to transfer the Tacloban City airport probably to Palo, Leyte. It came out on 11/09/14.
